Joe Goldfus from Russia to Minnesota

On the 12 June 1900 census was the merchant Joe Goldfus age 35 b: 1865 in Russia who immigrated in 1883 with wife Annie age 28 also born in Russia in 1872 with son Samuel age 7 b: 1893 in Minnesota. Hyman age 6 b: 1894, Ida age 4 b: 1896, Charles age 2 b: 1898. With them was Joe's brother Harris age 40 also born in Russia who was listed as a goods peddler. These people were all in Minneapolis Ward 3, Hennepin, Minnesota. Though they were from Russia, nothing said anything about being or speaking Yiddish.

Then on the 13 January 1920 US Federal census Joseph Goldfus, born in Russia, was in Minneapolis, Hennepin, Minnesota at age 55 owning his own hme with wife Ann J. also born in Russia and age 49. They spoke Yiddish. Living with them were their children, Sam age 27 a shoe salesman, Hyme age 26 a flour mill price clerk, Charles age 22 a salesman at the electric company and Rose age 17. The parents immigrated in 1890 according to this census.
